Hello friends!
I’m Marissa
My name is Marissa, and I am from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I am a energetic mom of two, a spin and crossfit addict, and a lover of the great outdoors.
I began my career teaching Middle School English and History to grades 7-9. The majority of that time was spent developing and teaching a specialized program focused on Arts Integration. Basically that meant that we worked to weave art based activities throughout the English and History curriculum. Art based activities are naturally hands on, and I loved the engagement and creativity that came with teaching and learning from this program.
When an opportunity arose to take a step back from the classroom and work alongside our district’s curriculum department as a Middle School English and History Curriculum Support Teacher, I jumped on it. At the district office, I spent two years working with and learning from some truly passionate and inspiring educators, and we worked to bring resources, ideas, and support to teachers throughout our district.
After two years working in the curriculum department, I was ready for a new challenge, and decided to make the giant leap to Elementary. I am currently teaching a grade 2/3 class, with a focus on place-based education, and I absolutely loved the energy and enthusiasm that came with these littler learners.
Currently, I am working outside the classroom as a curriculum designer. I have been a Teachers Pay Teachers seller since 2008, way back when the site was still a baby. I am passionate about creating resources that are hands on, engaging, and make learning (and teaching!) fun. As I have taught pretty much everything from grades 2-9, I have a wide variety of resources available for different subjects and grades.
This blog is a place for me to share my ideas, tips, tricks, and resources with all of you out there in the teaching world. My goal is to provide you with ideas and resources you can take away and use with your learners immediately – I hope to engage your learners, enrich your content, and inspire your teaching.
I am truly excited to share my experiences with you, and look forward to connecting and hearing your story.
I would love to connect via social media. You can find me here:
